The art of typography is not being noticed

Layout, typography, and technical illustration is where I originally found myself entering into creative design. After reading so many books in graduate school, I quickly found myself looking at the composition of the books I was reading and how they would affect me as a reader. If the attention to detail was good, it improved my comprehension. When asked, most people say they really don't notice typography or layout. I think this is the mark of a gifted typographer. When the job goes unnoticed, the meaning of the words and page have been conveyed without interference.

A large portion of my typographical experience has been for an electronic academic journal called the Journal of World-Systems Research. My work spans over 8 volumes totaling over 3500 pages.
