Spotlight is a pilot project designed to capture the 18-35 demographic by utilizing common Web 2.0 features such as blogging. My main responsibility in the project was to design a presentation layer for the WordPress site that followed the new nasa.gov site. Current responsibilities are to add new features and provide marketing ideas.

Falafel Software Inc.

The project involved a complete corporate rebranding and new marketing strategy along with the design and development of the website. The "made to order" tagline and referencing the Mediterranean dish in relation to the company name was part of the marketing strategy. With the exception to the company logo, the site and all its assets were designed by myself. The site is almost completely CSS driven, the top navigation menu is driven by Telerik RadComponents, and the web site is built using an ASP.NET framework. Go to Falafel Software

EuroUS Ventures

Responsible for their corporate logo, business cards, presentation materials, and a web site that is driven by a content management system. At the request of my customers, the site had to be completely maintained by the partners themselves. By doing so, EuroUS Ventures was able to achieve a level of efficiency and cost advantage by eliminating the need for keeping a web developer on staff. The site was developed around an open source content management system called Website Baker. Journal of World-Systems Research (JWSR)

This 9 year commitment demonstrates my typographical skills and my attention to detail in the book arts. All the publication work, including the web site, was done by myself with no assistance. The site took a revolutionary approach to electronic academic publishing by delivering professionally typeset PDF at no charge to the customer. The quality of the publication exceeded most academic print journals and quickly became a popular academic site of note. By the end of my tenure the site was receiving 15,000 site visits per month and transferring about 8 GB of data per month. While these are modest numbers for many periodical sites, JWSR’s traffic has proved to be unusually successful in the academic journal market. The journal is now being considered for adoption by the American Sociological Association.

Kiva Retreat House

Contracted to design their web site and give the business a consistent style in their signs, advertising, and print collateral. Kiva is a local Santa Cruz hot-tub and sauna establishment.

International Health Programs

Responsible for the design and maintenance of IHP's main web site for six years. IHP is a Public Health Institute project that promotes the health and well-being of people through training, consultation, and research worldwide. Go to International Health Programs

International Family Planning and Leadership Program (IFPLP)

The International Family Planning and Leadership Program web site required a content management system that allowed participants to log-in and participate in forums, update contact information and post news items from around the world. I installed the open source phpWebSite content management system, added appropriate system modules, and trained the users how to use the system. Go to IFPLP

International Family Planning and Leadership Program Latin America (IFPLP-LA)

This is the Latin Amerian site of the IFPLP program. The IFPLP-LA web site was designed to promote the activities of the organization. A blogging tool was installed but never used. Go to the IFPLP-LA

Tara Lou Art

Contracted to design a site around the WebSite Baker content management system. Allows Ms. Knutson to mange and upload photos of her work to her web gallery without the assistance of a web developer. Tara Knutson is a local San Francisco artist that specializes in painting portraits of our canine friends and sculpting various animals from wire. Go to Tara Lou Art
